2019 Legislative Education Day

On March 6th, 126 public health advocates convened in Olympia to learn about the legislative process and met with 138 lawmakers to educate them about the importance of public health funding. We shared stories about how public health makes a difference in the lives of our clients, friends, family and neighbors in our local communities.

If you didn't have a chance to attend this years LegDay, you can still advocate for public health by:

  • Learning about the legislators at leg.wa.gov and on their websites, newsletters and social media. Contact your legislators and let them know that public health is important to you.
  • Checking out publichealthisessential.org for stories and regional specific information.
  • Looking up public health stories and issues in your community (prevention vs. outbreak)
  • Start building your 60-60 second story/pitch
  • Finding out how your local health jurisdiction used the funds from 2017-19, and how additional funds will be prioritized in your community
